The youth of today have a prominent role to play as future innovators for progress of the renewable energy industry. India’s education system produces some of the brightest engineers, scientists and managers in the world and can meet the sector’s need for trained and skilled manpower.
Keen to integrate Indian youth with the renewable energy industry, the 3rd Renewable Energy India 2009 Expo coordinated a special Youth Summit, in collaboration with the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN).
The summit brought together young entrepreneurs, industry professionals, ministry officials, academics, NGOs and media together to enlighten Indian youth on the career opportunities available in this industry.
The Youth Summit demonstrated success stories of the youth entrepreneurs in the field and the challenges they faced. The interactive session was moderated by Puneet Sharma from Moser Baer. The forum had mixed panelists who took up issues like educational streams with direct relevance to the renewable energy industry, the pathway for young people to enter the field, formal training programmes and the industry support available.
The Summit was follwed
by the ‘Youth Entrepreneurial Green Award 2009' Ceremony. The Awards were sponsored by Garrad Hassan & Partners Pvt. Ltd., UK. The initiative to organise the side event was taken to motivate new projects & innovations.
